How did you come to NHC?
During my first term as a missionary, NHC started supporting me financially. I came to a service when I was home on furlough and decided to make it my church home.
What is your role at NHC?
Missionary in residence
Serving wherever needed while home from Africa.
What is the best part about your role?
I have the privilege of serving my home church and get to know the congregation better and form meaningful relationships.
Who is your favorite character in the biblical story? Why? How do you identify with him/her?
I have always been drawn to David, a man after God’s own heart. Good looked at his inner qualities, not his outward appearance. David was ordinary, often overlooked, and overcame limitations placed on him by many. David didn’t let the fears of man stop him from pursuing his God and the calling that was upon him. David achieved greatness. He saw both victory and defeat. He made mistakes and he repented. He was a great example of God taking an ordinary man to do extraordinary things.
Who are your favorite sports teams?
California Angels, of course!
Who is your favorite musical artist or group?
The Martins, Mozart, David Byrne, Vivaldi, most anything acoustic guitar.
What were you like in Junior High?
I had braces, played the saxophone and loved school, except PE class which I tried get out of whenever I could.
If you could choose your last meal on earth, what would it be? Why?
I love Malaysian chicken curry with rice. It’s so delicious and fragrant and reminds me of the time I was a short term missionary to Singapore.
What makes you laugh?
The unexpected twist in a joke or situation.
What makes you cry?
Just about any event or story charged with emotions whether joyful or sad.
